Alex obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Jewellery Design and Manufacturing Techniques from Stellenbosch University, in 1999.

She then worked at the bench in Schwartz Jeweller’s workshop, until moving to the UK for 4 years. Whilst abroad she worked for various designer jewellers as well as studying for a Business Certificate through Unisa.  

Since returning to Johannesburg  in 2005 Alex has focused her energies on her own designs, whilst being mentored by master goldsmiths in the Peter Scott workshop.  Working largely by commission, her work is however also available in the Veronica Anderson galleries in the Firs and Michaelangelo Towers.
